A hardy heirloom relative of onion and garlic as well as a cornerstone of French cuisine. Sweeter, milder and more delicate than the mildest of onions. Produces 7-9 inch long, 1-2 inch wide stalks. Delicate flavour makes a great addition to soups, stews, stir fries and salads. Start early indoors in March. Plant in fertile, well drained soil and in full sun. Very hardy - may be gathered even after light snow, or left in the ground until spring. Can be frozen to store over winter.
