(Wild cranesbill) The rhizome of this woodland native is used extensively in herbalism, usually in combination with other herbs, for its powerful astringency owing to its high tannin content. Excellent for diarrhea, ulcers, excessive menstrual bleeding, hemorrhoids, dysentry as well as a gargle for sore throats. Also great for topical wounds. Its common name stems from its beak like seed capsules.
