Horsetail

Native to the temperate zones of the northern hemisphere, this herb is unique for its upright hollow stems that branch, giving it the appearance of a horses tail. Makes an excellent astringent that has been used in conditions of the genitourinary system as well as prostate enlargement, excessive menstrual flow and hemorrhaging. As a mild diuretic, it is also used for fluid retention and kidney stones. Astringency also makes it effective as a vulnerary when applied topically to wounds.
