Found along the northeast coastal region of North America - also known as egg-wrack for its large egg shaped air bladders that provide buoyancy. Mainly used as one of the rare nutritional sources of dietary iodine, essential for proper thyroid function, although surprisingly rich in a significant amount of other nutrients including potassium, magnesium, calcium and iron! Usually found in the form of powder, capsules and tablets.
