(Khella; Honeyplant) Florets, once gone to seed, supply an impressive yield of grain. Active compounds, called khellin and visnadin can be found. They are known to act against kidney stones, angina pectoris, muscle spasms, gastrointestinal cramps, colic, painful menstruation and bronchial asthma. Leaves have pungent yet pleasant, cress-like flavour. Flowers are arranged in large umbel inflorescence—domes of umbrella forming florets. Umbel stems continue to be sold as natural toothpicks in the Middlle East and Asia. Sow into well-draining, moist soil. Requires staking, and a sunny location. Height up to 3ft (90cm)
