(Broccoli raab; Cima di rapa; Ruvo kale) A traditional Italian favourite related to broccoli but does not produce the large heads typical of broccoli. The leaves, buds and stems have a pleasant bitter flavour and are cooked, steamed or sauteed. A popular appetizer served with garlic and olive oil. Terrific in stir-fries. Start early indoors for harvest before the heat of summer, or sow direct mid-to-late summer for fall harvest. Quarantina-type variety that matures in 42 days.
