Purple Sacred Basil

(Krishna tulsi) (Krishna tulsi) This is true purple sacred basil, traditionally grown in homes, gardens, and near temples throughout India. Valued for both its beauty and strength, this variety features deep purple foliage and a sharper, more pungent spicy-clove flavour than green sacred basil, with noticeably stronger camphor notes. Because of its potency, it is best suited for medicinal blends, respiratory formulas, and stimulating preparations where therapeutic strength is more important than flavour. The aromatic leaves may also be used fresh in small amounts. Often used in Eastern cooking. Please note that much of what is sold as “sacred” or “holy” basil is actually spice basil, which is listed separately.
