Licorice Flag

Native to Japan and East Asia and bursting with an unbelievable licorice aroma, this grassy aquatic plant prefers moist, boggy conditions. Content growing alongside water bodies or as a ground cover in areas with moist soil, spreading through underground rhizomes. Makes a suitable container plant too! Popular in Thai cooking, but can be experimented with if in need of a new flavour twist! Medicinal properties are appreciated in Chinese herbalism as a sedative, dementia preventative, diuretic, digestive aid and antispasmotic. Was recently studied for its effect against BPH, demonstrating its impact at prostate gland reduction and encouraging further research. Height 8-12 inches.
