An old fashioned but elegant, low maintenance perennial that has no trouble growing almost anywhere, making a wonderful border plant. Flowers are chartreuse, almost blending in with the soft gray-green foliage, and desirable in cut or dried flower arrangements. As its name suggests, this herb has been widely used in folk medicine to combat symptoms of female menstrual disorders. Its astringency is specific to the female reproductive tract which allows it to slow excessive bleeding, ease cramps and relieve menopausal symptoms. In addition, it’s tannin content makes it beneficial in healing stomach ulcers, diarrhea and irritations of the throat. Was once used as a poultice to heal topical wounds. Leaves are administered in the form of a tea or tincture. Height 12-18 inches.
