Not as popular as close relatives but is still adored as a high yielding source of camphorous essential oil that was once important commercially. A parent of many hybrid crosses today. Has a low woody domed growth habit with long stems that branch out forming a trident topped with violet blue flower spikes. Although not as hardy as its augustifolia relative, it has been found to survive winters in northern temperate areas, preferring milder climates. Flowers mid July to August. Height 35-60cm.
