A Chinese herb used to promote blood circulation and energize the body. Also used to reduce menstrual disorders, including amenorrhea, menstrual cramps and breast pain. Used most commonly today to treat hyperthyroidism thought to be due to compounds that block the binding of antibodies to the thyroid gland.
