Vanilla Grass

(Sweet vernal grass) An ornamental grass similar to sweetgrass but more compact. It can be found growing in meadows, hay fields, wetlands and disturbed soils. Like woodruff, it has a sweet vanilla aroma that is released when dried or wilted. A tincture of its flowers in wine is said to give immediate relief from hayfever. Loves full sun. Blooms July & August. It produces flowering shoots and bladed grass up to 1m tall.
