Important native American herb. Tea made from the roots was used for menstrual problems, to induce labour, for menopause, and as an aphrodisiac. Also for coughs, bowel complaints, hemorrhages, asthma, lung disorders and for skin irritations. Woodland perennial, 15-40cm/6-16” high, with deep red flowers in spring.
