Salad Burnet
Poterium sanguisorba

When to Sow: Spring/Late Summer/Early Fall/Anytime Ease of Germination: Easy
A perfect herb to add to salads, soups, casseroles, herbed vinegars, cream cheese and butter! Adds a nutty-cucumber like flavour. Not only is it flavourful, but an attractive, low maintenance perennial as it forms a neat clump and stays contained. Does well as a container plant too! Produces small purple flower spikes. Plant in full sun or part shade in moderately moist soil. Harvest young tender leaves as needed but plant should never be cut back more than 1/3. Best stored frozen, as leaves loose their essence when dried. Height 20-60 cm.
