(Creosote bush) Originating from the western deserts if the United States and Mexico, chapparal blooms with delightful bright yellow flowers. Cultivated chaparral leaves can be prepared into salves, poultices, soaks, which can be used to heal minor skin infections. Although Native Americans have used chaparral to treat a wide variety of conditions, its main use was for the treatment of inflammation, rheumatism and viruses. Prefers sandy or loamy, moderately fertile soil. Plant in full sun. Suitable for xeriscaping as it is drought tolerant.
