Chlorella pyrenoidosa
|
|
Chlorella is a blue-green algae used in a dry powder form. It was first marketed as a low-cost protein supplement, but it has found a new use as a chelating agent. Chelation, from the Greek word for "claw," is a means of drawing poisons, such as heavy metals, out of the body. Research is underway to determine its exact effectiveness as a chelating agent in the body, but preliminary animal trials show it has some promise in the removal of lead.
