Devil’s Club
Oplopanax horridus
Uses: Medicinal
Also known as Devil’s Walking Stick, the plant prefers moist shaded conditions, and is found growing in undisturbed Northern woodlands. The “horridus” of the name is probably inspired by the many tiny spines that cover the entire plant and break off when handled or brushed against. Related to American Ginseng, the plant has been used as a traditional medicine by Native Americans for a wide variety of ailments and ritual ceremonies because it was thought to have “magical” powers and “protective charm.” The roots and bark have been used for indigestion, stomach pains, bowel cramps, rheumatism, sores, swellings, and as a tonic and blood purifier.
H2135 Bulk dried root bark cut $21.00/100g, $150.00/1000g
Currency: United States Dollar
