Honesty
Lunaria annua
Uses: Culinary/Medicinal Duration: Biennial (hardy in zones 3-10)
When to Sow: Spring Ease of Germination: Easy
(Money plant) Curiously, it symbolizes both honesty and money. Grown for its paper thin, shiny silver dollar-like seed pods called “silicles” that when dried, make attractive bouquets when mixed with other dried flowers or on their own! Some say its name derives from the transparency of its seed pods. A low maintenance biennial plant that will attract butterflies mid-late spring. Edible leaves can be added to salads. Great for borders, woodland or wild gardens. Thrives in full sun to part shade in organic, moist, well drained soils. Height 2-3 feet.
