Spanish Eyes Lavender
Lavandula multifida 'Spanish Eyes'
Uses: Medicinal/Aromatic Duration: Perennial (hardy in zones 9-10)
When to Sow: Spring/Anytime Ease of Germination: Moderate
Lovely ornamental lavender grown as an annual in flowerbeds, planters, and baskets. Set against its soft aromatic fern-like green leaves are masses of bright blue lavender flowers. Blooms with an abundance of flower spikes all summer long! Like others in the multifida group, the aroma is more “herby” with a stronger camphor overtone than the sweet aroma of the English variety. Cold sensitive but can tolerate hot climates better than the English variety. Plant in full sun and well drained alkaline sandy soil, ideally in a raised bed or rock garden as it is prone to root rot if conditions are too wet. Perfect for borders, rock gardens and containers. Bloom time begins late spring and continues on for the entire summer! Height 50-60cm/20-24. Please note: for this variety bulk seeds are priced by the thousand (M) seeds.
