Small woodland native of eastern North America known as a liver tonic. Tea made from the leaves and flowers used to treat problems of the liver, gallbladder, kidneys and bladder. Stops gastric bleeding and vomiting of blood. Lavender, blue, pink or white flowers appear in early spring before the leaves emerge.
