Known as the “happiness tree”, its flowers and bark are used in China to mend “broken hearts” and to induce a feeling of contentment and happiness. It is gaining a reputation among western herbalists as a fast and highly effective treatment for depression, anxiety, insomnia, poor memory and irritability. Some scientists apparently think that Coca-Cola contains this herb. It is a small tree with fragrant showy pink flowers in summer. Prefers full sun and is drought tolerant. Ht. 5-9m/15-25ft.
