(False yohimbe) Often used as an aphrodisiac in place of true yohimbe (Pausinylinia yohimbe. True yohimbe is Africa´s best known and most powerful aphrodisiac but some men and women find its stimulant properties are too strong and can cause anxiety, insomnia, and heart palpitations. Instead many Africans prefer to use the closely related pamprana, a gentler, easier to use aphrodisiac sometimes known as “false yohimbe.” The bark is used like true yohimbe but it does not contain the stimulant yohimbine. It has many similar compounds as true yohimbe but does not have the same negative side effects.
