Excellent ground cover for shaded areas. Dark green, evergreen leaves; violet-blue flowers. Astringent and sedative properties. Formerly used for diarrhea and hemorrhages. Known as Violet of the Sorcerers in France where it was once hung at entrances to ward off evil spirits and witches.
