(Pokeweed) Pleasant early spring potherb tasting like asparagus. Young unfolded leaves (older leaves are poisonous) are boiled. Powdered roots were used in a poultice by early settlers to treat cancerous ulcers. Used to treat rheumatism, arthritis and respiratory infections.
