Used in the 19th century as a treatment for syphilis, tuberculosis and cancer. Used today to treat constipation, liver inflammation, gallstones, urinary infections, bronchitis and laryngitis. Also used as an astringent, especially for hemorrhoids. Used in Hoxsey cancer formula.
