Stoneroot is a member of the mint family, native to North America. Unlike other mints, the leaves are strongly emetic in action. From July to October the plant will bloom with small lemon-scented flowers. The root is harvested in autumn, and is very hard; hence the name, stoneroot. It is commonly used in traditional remedies for indigestion, diarrhea and dysentery.
