Despite its prickly nature, Blessed thistle has been appreciated since the middle ages, where it was first used by Benedictine monks as an antibacterial agent to treat those suffering from the plague. Used nowadays as a galactagogue as it promotes breast milk production. It also works to increase appetite as a bitter herb, promoting the secretion of digestive enzymes and found in a vast number of digestive tonics. Commonly found along roadsides and other disturbed areas, blessed thistle thrives in full sun. Height 10-26 inches.
