Mediterranean delicacy grown for its succulent leaf stalks. Blanched hearts are cut into sections and parboiled for 90 min. until tender and bitter free. May be sauteed, or served heated, then chilled with oil and vinegar, or topped with a cream sauce and croutons. Start indoors two months before outdoor planting date.
