My cat has hyperthyroid and I would like to know if there is any herbs out there to treat him instead of the medication from the doctor which I have him on and the medication causes side effects 15%.

Once a cat is on thyroid medication, it is too late to use herbs as a replacement. However, herbs can help with complications arising from hyperthyroid as well as a number of the medication’s side effects. A good place to start would be to put your cat on a good, homemade diet. Recommendations for recipes can be found on this website (www.richters.com) under the posting "Dog and Allergies". It would also be useful for you to have your cat seen by a qualified practitoner who has experience working with animals and herbs as your cat will have a very specific history that needs to be taken into consideration before any herbal recommendations should be made.
