Horse and Arthritis

I was wondering if you could help me. My 15 year old throughbred used to race for many years and now suffers from arthitis. I have contacted a company that makes up herbs for horses and they recommended a number of herbs such as Pubescent Angelica Root, Mulberry Mistletoe Stem, Gentiana Macrophylla Root, Ledebouriella Root, Szechuan Lovage Root, Eucommia Bark and Drynaria Rhizome, Broomrape Fleshy Stem, Chinese Foxglove Root, Aerial parts of Epimedium, Gold Money Herb. Would you agree to what he’s prescribed?

I am not familiar with all of the herbs you have listed so cannot comment. However, I would look at homeopathy for help in this situation. As I’m assuming this is osteoarthritis from years of hard racing as opposed to inflammatory arthritis (rheumatoid), I will offer the following suggestions: if the joint is stiff initially but improves with movement, try homeopathic Rhus toxicodendron 30C twice a day for four days. If there is only minimal relief, use the same homeopathic, but at a 200C potency once a day for one week.
