What is quintazine?

Quintazine is a chemical applied to cultivated ginseng to prevent and eliminate crown rot. It is almost a requirement for habitats that experience large snowfall and/or moisture during winter months. Ginseng farmers in British Columbia use quintazine for this reason.

There is a new process to eliminate this chemical when making extracts from ginseng. This patent is owned by Hauser Chemical and may make roots treated with this chemical marketable in the world trade. To date, roots with this chemical are unable to ship into the US or China.
