Thinking about Growing Catnip in Idaho

I’m wondering if there are any buyers out there for catnip leaves and buds. We have farmland here on the Rathdrum Prairie in Idaho (38 acres) that is not being used and would like to know if even growing a couple acres would be worthwhile. We have catnip growing all over the place and I’ve managed to transplant it each year to a larger area each year giving it the room it needs. I presently harvest it myself and make catnip pillows for friends and family but am interested in knowing more on the possibilities of supplying others with the plant material.

I could use upward of 4 acres of catnip leaves and flowers this year. Most of my good farmers went out of business four to six years ago when the markets slumped. It does absolutely want to grow in your region, of course. Wildcrafting the local crop while putting in a new field for next year is smart money in the bank.

So, let me know your intentionality. If I have something to sell in June (wildcraft), you may have field crop available in September. If not, the local wildcraft could use a second harvest. And, since this is already April, do let me know ASAP for my current market needs. How else can I help you?
