Rosemary Leaf Processing Answered by: Richard Alan Miller Question from: Daniel Posted on: October 16, 2006
I am looking into growing rosemary and selling dry leaves. Is there a special machine that separates the rosemary leaves from the branches?
I went on vacation before this came in, and have been playing catch-up ever since. You got left at the bottom of that barrel. Sorry about that.
Rosemary needles are easily removed by drying them first to about 60% sun-cure. Once the needle is removed and separated (by winnowing), the needle is then dried down to storage levels (12%). Very simple to do.
