Growing Basil in Florida

Thank you so much, I will probably be setting an appointment with you. As I said, I wanted just the front pasture in lavender (for the beauty), but the back pastures I would like to plant organic Basil. Would growing organic basil or other herbs be difficult to take on? Yes, I have 5 acres and I want a home cottage industry, I already have a possible customer/s for the basil and other herbs.

Growing basil, even organic is easy. And, there is some serious money available for those who put it into a cottage industry. Rising Sun Herb Farm did 4 acres of basil for Neiman Marcus s a frozen pesto –right from my book on “"The Potential of Herbs as a Cash Crop",” under "Cottage Industries".

I took slides to make it a mini-book, and have prepared that for, so that may be a direction you might want to consider. With small acreages, cottage industries is the only way to go. Labor is really what you have to sell with small acres.
