I am looking for information on rose hips. I am having a little difficulty in locating a picture, and general care information. Is like a normal rose bush (for maintanence)?

We cannot help you with a picture; we do not have a picture of rose hips in our picture library yet.

Several species of rose are suitable for hips. Rosa canina, the dog rose, is a popular one because it is so hardy and produces hips reliably in most areas of North America. Dog rose is hardy enough that it will winter successfully without having been grafted on hardy rooting stock the way most ornamental roses are. Because Richters dog roses are on their own roots they are very easy to look after, and there is no need to be concerned about removing suckers as is the case with grafted roses, and there less need to mulch or hill up the bushes before freeze up in fall.

To maintain dog roses the dead wood and older canes should be removed in spring like other roses. This will help increase the average size of the hips. It will also keep the bush manageable where space is limited.
