Will boxwood winter over in Winnipeg if covered?

Winnipeg, Canada is in zone 2 while boxwood is only winterhardy in zone 6 if given a wintermulch. You have to overwinter the plant indoors in zones 5 to 1.

What is height of plant if not pruned?

Under ideal conditions boxwood can get as tall as 10 meters. Under most conditions is will grow up to 2 meters tall if planted in the soil. Potted up it will only get that tall if the pot is quite large.

Also, when you list perennials as hardy, does that include Winnipeg’s zone?

Listing plants as hardy in our catalogue means that they survive our zone 5 winters in southern Ontario. Some plants will also survive the zone 2 winters of Winnipeg, but our catalogue makes no such claims. We are working on an addition to our web-site where we will list the approximate range of zones in which a plant can overwinter out of doors. It should be ready shortly.
