Recommended Herbs for Korea

I live at Seoul in Korea and am just starting with herbs.

The weather in Korea is severe. The winter is very cold (minus 20 degrees Celsius), the summer is hot (about 30 degrees Celsius or above) and it rains all day during 30 days. This wet season is from the end of June to the end of July and is followed by the hot weather season.

Could you recommend herbs that would be easy to grow outdoors under these conditions?

It seems that the temperatures of Seoul are very similar to those we experience here in Southern Ontario. Your problem is going to be the rainy season. Most herbs would have to be grown on raised beds and you may have to put a plastic roof over them so that they don’t rot during the rainy season. Annuals would be an option for you. Start them towards the end of the rainy season and harvest in the fall. They will probably put in enough growth during the hot, dry season to give you a good harvest. Some examples: basils, summer savory, sweet marjoram, dill, and coriander. If you are willing to provide a rain roof, you could grow most of the plants marked with a "P" after the latin name in Richters catalogue.
