Would you send us information on the growing and using luffa gourds. We ordered the seeds and they are growing nicely, however, we do not know how to process the gourd for sponges.

Actually it is very easy! You grow the plants like squashes - in rich well-draining soil and hills or along a fence. Let the fruits ripen completely. They will be yellow when they become ripe. When ripe, allow to dry and then peel off the crumbling skin. Underneath it you will have your sponge with the seeds in the center. You can leave the seeds or to have it look tidier you can tease and shake them out of the network of remaining fibers.
