Please let me know if you have edible or fragrant herb plants suitable for the front beach of a South Carolina island.

Since a large percentage of herbs originate from the Mediterranean they would all do really well in your growing area. Annuals will be mostly OK as well. Our new catalogue (2000) will list the zone numbers the plants will do well outside in and you could pick out zone 9 plants – you would find that there are more than you have room for! A few that come to mind that are edible or fragrant are (if your soil is salty, I don’t know which of these plants is salt tolerant): all agastaches, ambrosia, angelica, anise, anise-hyssop, bai zhi, lemon balm, basil, bay laurel, bergamot(needs moisture), showy calamint, cardamon, catnip, chives. clary, coriander, curry plant, dandelion!, epazote, eucalyptus, fennel, pineapple guava, horseradish, hyssop, lavenders but not the English, Hidcote, Jean Davis, Lady, Rosea, and Provence, etc, etc, but do try some oregano and rosemary, sages, summer savory, lemon thymes and lemon verbena.
