Teasel and Joe-Pye Weed Seed Germination

I have ordered some teasel seeds from you, as refered to me by my mother, and I was wondering about the dormancy period of the seeds, and more importantly how to break the dormancy. What other techniques could be used in the growing proceess, and such information.

We always plant our seeds close to the surface so that they get light when germinating and they come up in 10 to 14 days if kept warm. Other species of this genus have been studied by Dr Norman Deno and have been found to need either light to germinate or GA-3 (Gibberelic acid-3) and darkness.

Also, a little off topic, but do you know anything about growing Joe-pye weed, or anyone who does? I have to grow some for a college class, and I’m not too sure where to get the information.

Keep the seeds moist at 5 degrees Celsius for 3 months then plant. They will come up well.
