Shade Tolerant Herbs

Last summer I moved to a home where the yard is all shade: no more than an hour of sun in each spot. Can you suggest anything that I could grow successfully in shade? I love scented geraniums and lavender but am willing to try anything. Perennials preferred.

Some shade tolerant herbs that come to minds are: Aconite, Chinese agrimony, allheal, avens, lemon balm, ban xia, red bethroot, bistort, sweet cicely, clivers, black and blue cohosh, columbine, Mexican coriander, costmary, devil’s club, dong quai, eclipta, slippery elm, wild ginger, American ginseng, Asiatic ginseng, sweet goldenrod, goldenseal, variegated goutweed, ground ivy, herb robert, honesty, kava kava, Chinese lantern, wild leek, liverwort, great lobelia, lungwort, common marjoram, mayapple, Corsican mint, ginger mint, mitsuba, oxlip, periwinkle, Chinese privet, wild ramsons, sweet rocket, rue, sassafras, squaw vine, valerian, sweet violet, voacanga, willow herb, dyer’s woodruff, sweet woodruff, yerba mate.
