Bo-tree in the Ozarks

Is it possible for the Bo-Tree to thrive in our climate? We are in the southern Ozarks. Elevation 1400 ft. Zone 6/7. Our winter temperatures can get down to zero and we often have drought conditions during August and September.

The sacred bo-tree (Ficus religiosa) is rated hardy to zones 10b and up, so it will not survive winter in your area. You can grow it as a pot plant though, bringing it indoors over winter and leaving it outside on a patio or deck for the late spring, summer and early fall. Although bo-tree is a large tree in tropical areas, it does very well as a pot plant and is easy to maintain as a specimen tree under 2 metres (6 feet) in height.
