Growing Lavender Indoors

Is it possible to grow Lavender indoors?

It is not easy to grow lavender indoors, but it can be done. Lavender is a high light plant and it may be hard to supply sufficient light indoors for the summer. You will know they need more light if the plants grow thin and stringy and reach towards the source of light. In the winter the plants also need a cool rest at temperatures close to freezing during the night and kept barely moist. Soggy winters kill them, as do bone dry ones. This is not hard to do with a greenhouse, as Richters proves every year(!), but may be hard on a windowsill.
