Thank you for this opportunity to ask a question regarding a small patch of wild leeks that I have growing in my back yard in North Bay, Ontario Canada. The last few years I have noticed moss growing in the same location and it seems that the leaves of the leeks are getting a bit smaller each year. Is it the moss that is responsible for the shrinking leaves or should I be adding a fertilizer to the patch? What would be the best fertilizer? When should the fertilizer be applied? Should I tear out all the moss?....

Moss grows only in places that are at least somewhat acid and poor in nutrients. It therefore is an indicator for those conditions. No wonder your wild leeks are getting smaller all the time. Adding lots of well-rotted leaves and well-rotted manure to the growing area will work wonders. No need to tear out the moss.
