My question is: How do we get rid of a Toloache?

We live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In our back yard next to our fish pond, we have a Toloache plant growing. It is huge!!! I don’t like it. It seems it is sprouting many shoots, everywhere!

Toloache is an annual so as long as the plant is prevented from flowering and setting seeds it will eventually die off. Start by cutting down the plants, then keep the area cut using a lawn mower. Take care to avoid excessive contact with the cut foliage (using protective gloves, eye protection, etc.) so that its narcotic alkaloids don’t enter the body inadvertently.

Toloache is also susceptible to Round Up herbicide if you prefer to use a chemical means of destroying the plants.
