Lemon Grass Use and Control Answered by: Inge Poot Question from: M. Flynn Posted on: November 25, 2006
How do I control lemon grass which is growing very high and wide? Can I trim it down or do I have to pull it out? Will it transplant easily? Also, any ideas on using it? (And on harvesting it?)
I wish I had your problem! Congratulations on growing this tropical so well. To keep it within bounds just trim it down. Do so with the central growth first to make sure you don’t sap it of all strength. When grown well it transplants easily.
Use your trimmings in all dishes that taste better with a hint of lemon. It is great in stir-fries, on chicken, in soups and stews. Chop the harvest into half centimetre pieces and enjoy!
