Unidentified Pests on Oregano

I live in western PA, USA & have been growing oregano for several years. This year, I’ve found a red and black small bug on the leaves that appears to be leaving small black dots on the leaves. The head and back of the bug is red with a black band through the center. The bug doesn’t appear to fly & is fairly easy to catch and kill, but it is hard to find throughout my bed of oregano. Any idea what’s eating my oregano? And how do I eliminate it?

I have not been able to identify your bug from the limited selection of books I have available on this subject. However, to get rid of it a spray of rotenone (protect yourself when you use it, even though it is organic) or pyrethrum soap spray (Richters carries this, but cannot ship this to the USA) or Bug-A-Bug Neem oil (Richters Catalogue #HW210) would be other good options.
