Growing Luffa In Southern Ontario

I lived in Southern Ontario, and would like to know if it is possible to grow luffa here. Do I need to start them inside and transplant them after the last frost? If yes, when should I start the seed? Also, How long of a growing season does Luffa needs before harvest?

Southern Ontario only provides a long enough growing season for direct planting in the areas close to Lake Ontario. If we have a cool rainy season then it might not even be sufficient there. I think you would be better off to plant the seeds in coffee cups in late April and plant out June 1. Each fruit needs about 3 months to become yellow and ripe enough to have a fibrous interior.
