Starting Lovage from Seed

I grew and loved my lovage plant outdoors in and around Dawson Creek, B.C. (bought at a plant sale). Now I live in eastern Montana and am trying to start from seed. Is there anything I need to know specific about lovage to get it to grow and take off?!

To germinate the seed the seed-bed should be kept dark until germination. Once germinated the plantlets should be planted in deep rich soil that is kept evenly moist but not soggy wet.
