Is This Plant Wormwood? Answered by: Inge Poot Question from: Douglas Kahn Posted on: July 13, 2007
I am attaching a photo of a plant that I took in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Could you identify it for me? I think that it might be wormwood. The plant is about 6 foot high.
Most of the Artemisias that I know have compound, ferny leaves, except for silver sagebrush. Your plant seems to have simple linear leaves and thus may be silver sagebrush, Artemisia cana. I would need to see the flowers to be more sure of my ID. It is native to Sierra Nevada and north of there to Canada.
